Shkodra Elektronike: the duo that reinvents Albanian music
Shkodra Elektronike is a meeting of tradition and modernity. Made up of Kolë Laca (songwriter and producer) and Beatriçe Gjergji (songwriter and singer), this musical duo embodies a new artistic wave that is redefining Albanian sounds. They will represent Albania at Eurovision 2025 with their song ‘Zjerm’.Zjerm”.
The Shkodra Elektronike project
Kolë Laca and Beatriçe Gjergji are two Albanian artists who grew up in Italy, far from their home town of Shkodër. Together, they form a unique universe that they describe as ‘Post Immigrant Pop’, a style that blends contemporary electro with traditional Albanian folklore.
Founded in 2019, Shkodra Elektronike is distinguished by its ambition to reinterpret traditional Shkodër songs in a modern electronic tone. This artistic project allows them to express their complex identities, those of immigrants seeking to reclaim their culture while inscribing it in the present day.
‘Zjerm’ their song for Eurovision
In December 2024, Shkodra Elektronike topped the Festivali i Këngës 63 (the national selection for Eurovision). Together they will carry Albania's colours to Basel next May, with the ambition of reaching an even wider audience. Their song ‘Zjerm’ (‘fire’ in Albanian) echoes their roots and vision. It explores human compassion and the desire for renewal, blending tribal energy with contemporary electro.
