Can you introduce yourself in a few words and tell us about your musical career?
I'm FELIN, an artist from Finland and Sweden. This year, I'm taking part in Eesti Laul with my song ‘Solo Anthem’, a pop-punk track full of energy! I started my career in Finland, with the group Sister Twister, with whom we took part in the Finnish selection for Eurovision 2010. I went on to Sweden, where I reached the top 6 of the Swedish Idol competition. I then moved to Los Angeles, where I worked on songwriting for artists like Adam Lambert. Back in Sweden, I toured with artists such as Icona Pop and Agnes, before launching my ‘FELIN’ project with my husband Fredrik Etoall, who is an integral part of this project. To date, I've released three albums and supported bands such as Royal Republic and The Chainsmokers. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
Participer à l’Eesti Laul est pour moi une manière de renouer avec l’univers de l’Eurovision, que j’ai toujours adoré. Et je suis ravie d’avoir été sélectionnée pour ce concours !

What made you decide to become a singer?
I've been singing for as long as I can remember. Even as a child, I was always humming and giving mini-concerts for my parents and their friends. Being on stage has always been an obvious choice for me, even if I didn't know where the urge came from. I've always felt an inner fire, a conviction that creating music and getting up on stage were part of my destiny.

What do you think of the Eesti Laul format, with just one final?
It's good to have just one show, because it allows you to give your all in a single performance, whether in terms of budget or even pressure management.

What is the significance of your title ‘Solo Anthem’?
I've always wanted my songs to deal with themes like equality, energy and empowerment. But ‘Solo Anthem’ is above all a song that reminds us that we are our own biggest fans! It's not easy being an artist: you're constantly judging yourself and being judged by others. So it's very easy to lose yourself. The aim of this song is to restore people's confidence and help them to believe in themselves.

What do you think of a national team with a big name like Tommy Cash?
Of course, it's not easy to compete with artists with huge fanbases, but it's still Eurovision: anything can happen! Every year, very different songs win, so anything is possible..

Which artists inspire you most?
My main influences are pop, pop-punk, electro and house. One of my earliest inspirations was Blondie! I grew up listening to Paramore, in particular. But I'm always on the lookout for new artists, because there are always new sources of inspiration.

What are your fondest memories of Eurovision?
I've been watching Eurovision since I was a little girl, and in recent years I've continued to follow it with my friends. I loved Måneskin, because their musical style is close to mine. The Käärijä/Loreen ‘battle’ in 2023 was fun, especially as I have links with both countries. But I was backing Finland, because Sweden had already won too many times!
