Go-Jo - " Milkshake Man » - better than an espresso macchiato?
Australia. Far away and yet so close to us through Eurovision. The country has been taking part in Eurovision for 10 years this year, and in 2025 they have decided to send a song that could once again rank in the Top 10, or even better.
A few weeks ago, the broadcaster SBS (Special Broadcasting Service) revealed the song with which Australia intends to win Eurovision 2025. The song is Go-Jo with its " Milkshake Man" a veritable hymn to self-confidence, tinged with a double reading that will either make you smile or shock you. Come as you are, and make up your own mind. Australia is sending an artist who represents the country's cultural policy to Eurovision, with innovative talent far removed from the usual recipes, formatted songs and writing camps (too many?) used by some countries.
" Milkshake Man », a hymn to self-confidence boosted by lactose
" Milkshake Man » is written by Go-Jo with Amy Sheppard, George Sheppard, and Jason Bovino, all three former members of the Sheppard group, who competed in Australia's national Eurovision selection, "Australia Decides » (format discontinued in 2022) and who will bring their experience to this participation. Although former Australia Decides talent was involved in Milkshake Man, this is the first time the Australian delegation has chosen an artist who has not previously competed in the national selections.

Go-Jo, whose real name is Marty Zambotto, is a 25-year-old Australian with dual Australian and French nationality (through his father). He grew up in rural Australia and had to choose between a career as a footballer and a musician, but his passion for music won out. According to Paul Clarke, Australia's Artistic Director for Eurovision 2025 :
"From the moment we saw Go-Jo on stage, we knew he had a unique connection with the audience and we know he'll get a lot of love from the Eurovision community. This year marks Australia's tenth appearance at Eurovision, and this time it's going to be a big success (or rather a big disappointment!). 'Milkshake Man' is a new sound and style for us in Eurovision, and we're delighted with this track from Go-Jo and the legendary Sheppard songwriting team. »
The clip broadcast a few weeks ago immediately made it clear that Australia was betting on a good place this year. Colourful, eccentric, playful but also sensual. The clip can be likened to the style of " Ich Komme » fromErika VikmanPerhaps with a touch of infectious madness thrown in for good measure.
On top of that, Go-Jo has a strong community on social networks, with over 1.4 million followers, and we know that counts for something at Eurovision.
So... Espresso or milkshake?
This year, hot drinks are in the spotlight. Australia is positioning itself as a serious contender for Eurovision 2025, and one thing is certain: the final should not escape Australia in May. Remember that in 2024 in Malmö, Electric Fields failed to qualify for the final. A real disappointment for a country that has enjoyed excellent results since its first participation in Eurovision in 2015.
The combination of a catchy song, a charismatic artist with positive energy and an all-purpose message with a double entendre should be a hit with the public, but it's quite possible that with some good staging, as Australia is wont to do, it will also win a fair few votes from the jury!
